Baked potato chips, a delicious and healthy alternative to potato chips. They are very crispy and are made with 3 ingredients. Who doesn’t like potato chips? The bad thing is that the fried ones are not for every day and also they do not feel good to us, that’s why, I have been perfecting my recipe for baked potato chips and today I want to share it with you.

It is very simple and only 3 ingredients are needed: potatoes, extra virgin olive oil and salt, nothing more! I have read that the ideal is to use a type of potato with a high content of starch like the Russet variety, but it is not necessary. I use the potatoes that I find in the supermarket and they always look great.

The amount of oil is personal. At least you have to add 1 tablespoon to make them very crispy, but they are better with 2. If you want, you can add even more, although it is not necessary. If you don’t have oil, take a look at our fat-free potato chips recipe.

have not specified the amount of salt because it is something that depends on the taste of each person. I usually add 1/4 teaspoon to it, but I recommend that you add it little by little until they are perfect for you.

I have made the recipe very basic, but you can add a thousand different ingredients: spices (ground black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder), dried herbs (oregano, basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary), fresh herbs (parsley, basil), chopped fresh garlic, cheese (with my vegan Parmesan cheese they are a scandal), etc.

Although potatoes can be eaten alone and in fact it is how I like them, in general they are usually accompanied by some sauce. You will find many different options on the blog, but my favorites are ketchup , mayonnaise , barbecue sauce and ranch dressing.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound russet potatoes (cleaned and sliced into 1/8-inch pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 450 F. Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, toss the potato slices together with the olive oil and salt to coat evenly. Spread the potato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

  3. Place in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the chips are a very light golden color and appear crunchy. Keep a careful eye to make sure that the potatoes do not brown and overcook.

  4.  Allow chips to cool completely before serving

Notes

  • If you aren’t comfortable using a mandoline or sharp knife, you can slice the potatoes with the food processor’s slicing disk. Choose the disk with the thinnest size possible (often 2 millimeters).
  • Make sure to immediately toss the sliced potatoes in the olive oil so they don’t begin to turn black.
